Case Study: Coravin Sparkling
Graphic Design | Packaging | Print
01. Project Overview
The launch of Coravin Sparkling, a system that preserves sparkling wines for up to
4 weeks, was a technological innovation that was 8 years in the making. To prepare for the release, I created a suite of promotional materials, including packaging, marketing assets, and event materials.
02. Contributions
In addition to creating all interior and exterior packaging for US/EU/APAC
markets, I created promotional assets such as sell sheets, social media posts and instructional videos. I also created a high end booklet in partnership with Rimowa
to send to high profile Coravin enthusiasts, including Carmelo Anthony and
Will Blackmon.
03. Challenges
We wanted to set Coravin Sparkling apart from existing competitors. The challenge was to create consistent branding across print and digital assets that spoke to the high end nature of the product, while reflecting its association with champagne and sparkling wines. Since I was creating a new visual for Coravin Sparkling, I had to continuously incorporate feedback between assets.
04. Solution
After several iterations, I landed on sleek black packaging with gold accents to reflect the high end nature of the product, and allude to champagne. We carried this branding over to the suite of Coravin Sparkling assets, and also incorporated bubble-like graphics on several pieces.
05. Results
The launch of Coravin Sparkling was highly applauded by partners and press. The team’s efforts also led to a successful partnership with Moët Hennessy, labeling Coravin as the “Official Preservation Partner of Moët Hennessy Champagnes”.
Coravin also won Innovator of the Year at Wine Enthusiast’s 22nd Annual Wine Star Awards, further solidifying its position as a leader in the wine tech industry.
